Got up early and hit the road heading out to the Nottoway River for some fishing action.
The weather forecast predicted sunny skies and warm, if not downright hot temperatures. The weatherman was right on today. It did get hot.
My usual fishing partner Scott was not able to make this last minute trip. So I packed up the fishing kayak and got on the road.

This weekend we took a “Plan B” trip.

The past few weekends the weather has been questionable, but bordering on decent. In between Nor’easters, and layered with warm wind-proof clothes and a pockets full of hand and foot warmers, we have hit some local freshwater fishing holes.

We have wanted to try our hand at some cast iron bakeware out on the Kamado grill. Sure, it’s easy enough to make bread indoors — but, indoor baking doesn’t get me outside doing stuff. I’ll try some outdoor baking for a change.
Cooking outdoors over hot coals with cast iron allow you to move towards greater self-sufficiency. Who knows when fire pit cooking will again be that sought after life-skill?
