The Lodge cast iron dual handle pan might just be the perfect cookware for my Kamado Joe Classic grill.
We found this late one night while trolling through the Amazon Lodge cast iron offerings for anything new.
I am familiar with most of the Lodge cast iron product line. This Lodge dual handle cast iron skillet is something new I hadn’t seen before.
I liked the idea of having a Lodge dual handle pan, so I hit the “Buy now with 1-Click” button. Yeah, I was tired and it was late, and you know what I am talking about? It is all too easy to click that button thinking of what you might be able to do with a new piece of cast iron cookware.
With that Amazon Prime shipping, the Lodge L10SKL cast iron pan landed at my front door in no time.
Lodge Cast Iron Dual Handle Pan Review
I had visions of this new Lodge 12 inch dual handle cast iron pan cooking up some good eats on my Kamado Joe Classic grill. It’s a perfect fit and centers up nicely on the grill grate giving me plenty of cooking space.
It was the dual loop handles that really caught my eye. The dual loop makes it easier to store when not in use. It also fits better on the dinner table without the longer conventional handle that sometimes get in the way.
We had been using our Lodge 10 inch cast iron skillet (the Lodge L8SK3) for most everything. It works great, but the handle really kept it from being fully functional outside on our Kamado Joe grill.
Having an assortment of cast iron skillet sizes is a must. They are inexpensive, so why not.
So I decided to whipped up a batch of something the grill as of test of my new Lodge cast iron dual handle pan and see how it performed.

Dual loop handles are a plus
Fits perfectly on my Kamado Joe Classic grill, even with the dome lid closed. Folks who own other standard size ceramic grills with 18 inch grill grates will find this a useful addition to their outdoor cookware arsenal.
Some folks, myself included, will turn this cast iron skillet upside down and cook the bottom. For example, this upside-down method makes for great pizza crust. And, this Lodge 12inch cast iron pan sports right at 9 1/4 inches of cooking space.
You might wonder why the Lodge 12-inch cast iron pan has a L10SKL marking? Well, these markings come from a time when wood-burning cook stoves were used for meal preparation. The stove top openings were known as stove eyes and were of standard sizes. The stove eye would have a removable cover piece. So a number 10 cast iron pan would be used for a #10 stove eye opening.
Lodge Cast Iron Dual Handle Pan – Performance
I was in the mood for some pork curry. So I made up a batch of my Kamado Joe coconut curry pork meatballs.
So step one was to wood smoke a batch of pork meatballs. When the pork meatballs finished smoking, I removed them from the grill.
Next, I put the skillet on the grill and waited for it to stabilize at 350 °F.
Soon I had the aromatics of a nice curry sauce simmering away in the pan. There was plenty of cast iron cooking surface area to work with.
The Lodge dual handle cast iron skillet is a clear winner.
Maybe tomorrow we will cook up some bacon and eggs.
Experience is learn-by-doing. You’ll need some barbecue towels to handle and carry the hot Lodge L10SKL cast iron pan from the grill to the table. I have a big pile of these barbecue towels. They easily stand up to the heat from the cast iron.
