Kamado Joe Bratwursts Sauerkraut and Apples – A Method
Get those Man Cave Bacon Beer & Cheddar Cheese bratwursts on the grill. They’ll need 15 to 20 minutes of cooking time. Make sure you turn them every couple of minutes.
After 10 to 15 minutes, put those granny smiths, cut side down, on the grates.
In that foil pan, dump the drained sauerkraut and sprinkle with the caraway seeds and fresh ground black pepper.
Pour in the beer.
When the bratwursts have finished cooking, add to the foil pan.
Optionally, remove the heat deflector to get some radiant heat on those granny smiths. Use your grilling gloves, this thing is hot!
When the apples have softened up some, add them, and cover the pan with foil.
Let steam in the pan for 10 or so minutes. Optionally, smash the apples and work them into the sauerkraut.
No buns needed here. Have this Oktoberfest style. Slice the bratwursts into rounds on a bed of that sauerkraut apple mix. Kamado Joe bratwursts with sauerkraut and apples is really easy to make.
With all of the rain we have had around here, we can’t get out and do any spring time fishing. The rivers are up and over their banks. So spending some time here cooking on the Joe and doing some gear maintenance.
