Today we went out for a much-needed day hike and brought along some freeze dried Mountain House Chili Mac with Beef for a warm-you-up-inside lunch. It’s a sunny, but cold, mid-February weekend with temperatures hovering around 35 °F / 1 °C.

We really like the large selection of Mountain House freeze dried food offerings. It’s all good stuff and we have been eating them for many years.

I have been looking at those smaller, more compact flashlights for my bug-out-bag and all around household use. Some folks might call these, —tactical flashlights.

I noticed on my last trip that my REI Quarter Dome 2 tent had 3 small holes in the tent fly.

I suspect they were from pitching the tent when the fly was wet. As it dried in the sun, it got overly tight? Or, perhaps they are burn holes from campfire embers? I didn’t see any char marks, so I really think it is the former.

This past weekend I hooked up with Rob and headed out for another weekend adventure. This time we set out for a backpacking trip through the Dolly Sods Wilderness area in West Virginia.
